Geothermal Bores
Groundwater with temperatures in excess of 55°C can be obtained from bores 500 to 1200 m deep in various parts of the sedimentary basins in Western Australia. Perth is particularly well located and several geothermal bores have been drilled to warm swimming pools and other facilities. Rockwater has been a pioneer in this work and obtained a special commendation in the 2002 Western Australian Water Industry Awards for conservation of water and an Excellence Award from the Australian Institute of Refrigeration and Health (AIRAH) for the construction of a geothermal bore at Christ Church Grammar School.
